Eric & Tenesha; June 6: West Orange, NJ

I started the day off at Tenesha's house, filming her and the beautiful bridesmaids getting ready and excited while a second videographer captured Eric and his groomsmen getting ready at a nearby hotel.

Then it was off to the Manor in West Orange, a place where my parents had their own wedding reception 39 years ago this month. I took my car, but Tenesha was picked up in a carriage pulled by horses.

Eric was already there with his groomsmen, waiting for the call to head to the ceremony. Eric's father was the officiant, as he is an ordained minister, so an already special ceremony would be even more special.

The guests gathered outside to watch the arrival of Tenesha in her carriage. Then they grabbed their seats to watch the processional of nattily attired bridesmaids and groomsmen. Eric's smile hardly left his face when he saw Tenesha come down the aisle and throughout the ceremony. Each of them wrote vows to the other which drew a response from the very impressed friends and family that heard them.

The ceremonial 'jumping the broom' was almost the end of the ceremony but not before the cute junior bridesmaid did a reading and the wedding party released butterflies.

Then it was off for photos with Jirel and Sandy from A Raisin in the Sun for the wedding party and cocktail hour for the guests before the grand entrance of the couple just after eight. This led into first dance, special dances and plenty of toasts. Other highlights included a 'name that tune' contest by the DJ, special songs by R & B artist and actor Chris Williams, a song to Tenesha by her sorority sisters, cutting the cake, a special slideshow created by Tim Alan Smith, the bouquet and garter toss and non-stop dancing.

The real highlight, though, was when Tenesha and her bridesmaids snuck off early in the reception to change into their party dresses and re-enter the party. The reaction of the groom to her 'new look' is one the bride won't soon forget!
